Woman's Scalp Torn Off in Richmond Dog Attack

A Richmond woman was left disfigured after being attacked in the street by two stray dogs. The victim was on her way to work, walking through Jackson Ward, when two Cane Corso Mastiffs attacked. The woman’s scalp was ripped off her head. Her legs, arms, ears and back were also injured in the incident. The dogs only stopped their attack when police arrived on scene. They advanced toward one of the police officers aggressively, causing the officer to fire their weapon. The male dog was killed and the female dog ran away. She was captured by animal control soon after.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery. Her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

Police are now on the hunt for the owner of these dogs. No one has come forward thus far to claim the female Mastiff. Should the owner be located, they will be held responsible for the damage caused by these dogs. It’s not clear whether these dogs escaped from their home or yard or were simply left to their own devices to roam the neighborhood of their own accord. However they ended up on the street, they caused serious damage.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact authorities.
