On Friday, September 5, 2014 around 8:30 A.M., a 9-year-old girl standing at her bus stop was attacked by a pit bull.
According to Fredericksburg.com, the girl was taken to the Mary Washington Hospital where we where she underwent surgery. Although the injuries were not life threatening, the girl had wounds to her arms, legs, and back.
Apparently the dog jumped over a fence, and the owner did not know the dog had gotten loose. Three neighbors rushed to the scene to help the girl. After a few minutes the owner ran out of his house and took the dog inside.
The owner of the pit bull has surrendered the animal for a required quarantined period. The owner is being charged with destructive or annoying dogs running at large and three counts of not have a county dog license.
