We send our condolences to the family of the victim. We’ll be sharing updates to the story as more information is released.

While pit bull advocates and critics have argued for years about the danger of the breed, there’s no denying the simple fact that all animals are unpredictable. Regardless of how well a family pet might be trained, they can act viciously when it is least expected. When that vicious behavior happens around young children or the elderly, potential for serious injury increases. It is likely that the victim simply wasn’t strong enough to fight off the dog.

All pet owners must be aware of the risks of housing these animals – and of the potential for serious attacks to occur. No pet owner is immune.
