Pit Bulls Attack 5 in Hampton; School Put on Lockdown

Five people were taken to the hospital with injuries, and a nearby elementary school was put on lock-down this morning.

Police received a call this morning about two dogs that had bitten two people and a mail carrier around the 600 block of Bell Street in Hampton. While attempting to secure one of the dogs a police officer was bitten in the process.

During this time, police asked residents to stay in there homes and place Bassett Elementary School on lockdown until the dogs were captured.

Victims were taken to the hospital with injuries to their legs and arms, according to WAVY10.

Charges are pending against the dog’s owners.
