Of these deaths, Pit Bulls, as well as their mixed breeds, were responsible for 20 (or 71 percent).

The following stats show that this problem is getting bigger with each passing year.

  • During the same time period last year, there were 18 fatalities.
  • If you go back to 2012, there were 20 deaths
  • and in 2011 there were 18 deaths.

According to their research, Texas had the most fatal dog attacks during the first 225 days of this year, with six, followed by three each in Ohio, Florida, and Alabama.
