12-Year-Old Attacked by Vicious Dog in Portsmouth

A 12-year-old was viciously attacked by a dangerous pit bull and so badly injured that her wounds required dozens of stitches.

The innocent victim was reportedly sitting on a friend’s porch when a pit bull got out of the house and lunged for her; the vicious animal dragged her by the hair and then bit her side. After the youngster fell to the ground, the pit bull attacked her ear. The child was brought to a nearby hospital, where she required thirty-two stitches in her ear and the side of her back. She will also require plastic surgery to repair her ear where the dog bit it.

As an experienced dog bite lawyer, I have to confess that hearing about these kinds of events sadden me. I do not know why people are so frequently unable to ensure that their dogs are safely locked up and prevented from harming anyone. If you have a dog, you have an indisputable responsibility to make sure it cannot attack anyone—and that responsibility goes double if your dog has a history of being vicious or aggressive. Nobody should live in fear of being attacked by a vicious animal, and nobody should be allowed to handle their potentially-dangerous dog carelessly.
